This is an antique Bohemian Zwischengoldglas with a handpainted enameled Rooster/Cock, around 1870/1880 and probably moser or lobmeyer
A very pretty late Victorian art glass shot glass worked in zwischengoldglas. The base of the crystal glass is hollowed out, decorated with a handpainted design of a brightly-colored rooster against a gilt background and then sealed with a crystal plug cut to fit perfectly. The technique was used in the late Victorian era to mimic a type of Bohemian art glass made earlier in the century. This rooster decoration is magnified and reflected in the flat panel cutting along the sides of the glass creating the effect of a parade of roosters. Such glasses are much more often seen with floral decoration. The use of a rooster is an allusion to the word “cock”, which reminds us of “cocktail.” Unsigned, but very likely made by Moser.
